Old OnQ Server

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Before I purchase a license I wanted to make sure what I want to do is possible. I have an old EOL OnQ server that's just sitting wasting space. It has 12x4TB drives. I haven't undertaken any project with old server hardware yet, and just wanted to make sure it's possible.

I just want to wipe the XenCenter OS that's on there and replace it with Unraid. Is this something anyone has had experience with or know that it is possible and could shoot me a message to help me get started? I've been watching videos but generally people start after their hardware is all together so I have no idea what's going on up to that point.

Thanks much,
Shawn

If you don't get an answer from someone that already tried it you can always use a trial Unraid license.

Do you have data on that server you want to keep or is just the drives you want to keep?  If you want to keep the data what file system are they using?

I'm just keeping the drives since there's 48TB worth. I just did basically a factory reset, but it's got some sort of Dell management system built in.. iDRAC? I can't figure out how to set it up so unRAID can see the drives.

Thanks. I'm running the trial now but still no real clue what I'm doing. lol unRAID seems easy enough to use, but the servers built in junk is getting in the way.
