Windows Moving Files To Full Cache, Causing File Corruption

Featured Replies

My sister tried to move some mp4 files from a camera to her user share today. The share uses the cache, however the cache was almost full. Once the cache filled up, it looks like Windows was still trying to write to it (it never switched to the array), and looked like it was still completing file transfers (very slowly). This caused the original files to be deleted off the camera. Windows says most of these mp4 files on the user share are 0 bytes on disk. As soon as she told me that this was happening, I got rid of some stuff on the cache which let some of the last files transfer over which aren't corrupt.

Hope someone can help me figure out why its' not switching to the array or causing the file transfers to fail. I used Recuva to try and get back the deleted files from the camera, however they're still not playable. This is not the first time this has happened and it was quite a few videos  so I'll feel awful if I can't get them back.
