April 24, 201115 yr I came home after a few days out of town to find the usb stick with the unraid OS on it snapped off the tower case of my unraid box. I have about 2 TB of data stored between 2 data drives. Is it possible to load a new stick, plug it in, and set the drives and have the data accessible, or will I have to copy the data off the drives, preclear, and go through the entire set up again? Thanks
April 24, 201115 yr You can just assign the drives again and they will be recognized and used as-is. If you do not know 100% which drive is parity then start with the data drives only. Once you have the data drives all properly assigned then assign the leftover drive which must be the parity. Just DO NOT assign a data drive as parity because that will cause data loss. Peter
April 24, 201115 yr Author That is a relief to know. As far as setting up my shares again, I can set them up to conform to my existing data structure without any issues?
April 24, 201115 yr Once the parity is assigned correctly rearrange the data drives to the original configuration. The shares should appear automatically but you'll have to configure split level, allocation method, and included/excluded disks.
