April 26, 201115 yr I have been trying to clean up my disks and using the move command. Have had no problems ever with this command. Last night, I used it on a big subset of data (~475GB). It seemed to be running fine when I went to bed. When I woke up, all my data appears to have been moved over (all files intact, folder on new disk is same size as old disk) but the disk I was moving from does not appear to be removing/deleting the data as happens with the last part of the mv command. In my telnet session, the script still appears to be running (although i did not choose verbose output but it has not returned to base prompt yet like it normally does when finished). I used the nohup command and tried to read the nohup.out file using vi. The only message, repeated several times in that file is "mv" cannot stat /mnt/disk8/MyMedia/Movies/.DS_store': No such file or directory. I dont believe my syslog shows anything problematic other than lots of minor issues with duplicate .DS_store messages. I truncated it to 12am today since i started the main move of the files a little after 12am. Not sure if the remove DS_Store script which is scheduled to run every morning caused issues with the move of the files. Any help or advice on how to check what is going on or diagnose further would be appreciated. I am nervous to stop anything at the moment. EDIT: OK it eventually exited out. Didnt remove the files so i did it manually. syslog-2011-04-26.txt
