Configuring Adaptec 1430sa

Recommended Posts

I just added an Adaptec 1430sa to my build to prepare it for future expansion, and attached an old 160GB drive to it for testing. Precleared last night and everything seems OK but have not added it to the array yet.

I've seen comments about disabling the BIOS on this card but no details on how to do this. The mobo BIOS doesn't seem to have any way to disable the Adaptec BIOS, and if I go into BIOS setup for the Adaptec it doesn't have anything for disabling it either. Does "disable" just mean make sure it is not setup for RAID? It is already reporting JBOD which I think must be the default and the only possibility since I only have one drive attached to it.

I also notice in the syslog that this drive is "sata_mv" instead of "ahci" like the 4 drives on the mobo.

Just want to make sure I have set this up correctly.

Here is the filtered syslog for this drive from unMenu:
