Move 2 hdds to unraid without data loss

Featured Replies

Hello,

I just bought an old dell poweredge t310 and want to migrate the 2 hdds from my synology nas to it but I don't want the data from those drive to be wiped when I mount them in the server. Is this possible? The 2 drives were in RAID 1 on the nas.

Thank you!

All drives used by Unraid in its array need to be formatted by Unraid so you cannot do what you asked.   You would have to set up the Unraid array and then copy the data across the network to get it onto Unraid.

Ok, I understand. There is a faster way of moving files from one another except with an external drive and copying on to it?

Gigabit network will be much faster than copying and reading from a USB drive.
