drive will not format

I'm using version 5.0b6a.

I have 5 disks in my server. I changed disk1 to cache disk, by transferring all files from disk1 to 4. Then i stopped the array and used "new configuration" in utilities and reassigned the drives. The cache disk(old disk1) shows up as unformatted, I choose format now, but after it finishes, it still shows up as unformatted. I tried this a couple of times, but with the same result.

 

Any ideas what the problem is.
