February 6, 20224 yr Just went through the frustrating process of finding out, empirically, that the motherboard I wanted to use simple won't work with an LSI SAS 9211-8i (SAS2008), already flashed to IT mode. (I verified that it does work as it should on a different motherboard.) The documentation that comes with the card has no mention of requirements of the motherboard. There must be some way of knowing whether a motherboard will support this hardware or not. I know there are a lot of tested and recommended motherboards, but I would like to be able to look through options and have a really good idea whether it is going to work or not. What should I be looking for? To clarify, UnRaid does/did work/load on the troubled mobo, it just didn't recognize the controller. The Tools>System Devices list had everything but the SAS2008 controller. Intel H61 Express Chipset with PCI Express x16. ***Update: Lenovo M71 motherboard does NOT work with SAS2008 Edited February 8, 20224 yr by snarklepwne additional info
February 6, 20224 yr I had to Kapton tape a couple of pins on the card to get it to work with my motherboard. If I recall correctly, it was pins 5 and 6.
February 6, 20224 yr Author I've seen people saying that in the forums here, but it seemed like it was in response to the computer not booting at all, or going into a reset loop. Were you able to get as far as being logged into UnRaid only to find that this one component wasn't recognized? Thanks
