Parity Check - 325 errors

Featured Replies

Was having trouble with one of my new drives (installed to replace failing drive) becoming unmountable.  Ran through checkdisk and it appeared to have fixed the problem.  However, on running the parity check it recorded 325 errors.  I have no idea what to even look for in the downloaded diagnostics.  Would appreciate if anyone can shed some light on what I should do about the errors.

Thanks

What commend did you use to repair the filesystem?

  • Author

I used xfs_repair with the option to delete the log or ignore the log or something along those lines.  Sorry, not an expert here.

Please post the complete command, more interested in the device you used.

I honestly don't remember.  I used the unraid help link it gave me and used the command the help document recommended.  All I remember is that it was to do with the log and clearing the log.  I ran the parity again and it reported the same 325 errors.

You might have repaired the sdX device, that would make parity out of sync, but if you don't remember you still should run a correcting parity check.

I did that and it came back with 1150 errors.  I have the fix errors but when I ran it again it still said 1150 errors.  Any idea whats going on?

That suggests first one was non correct, if the second one was correct it would find the same errors, but this time fix them, you can post the diags to confirm, if you didn't reboot yet, or run another check and it should find 0 errors.

OK, I'm running another check and will post what its results are.

I'm starting to think something else is wrong.  I always have parity errors now, and the server is rebooting randomly.  I always run the parity check to fix errors as well.  Currently doing another parity check, and its showing 398 errors so far.

Please attach new diagnostics.

Have you checked your memory ?

Can't get through a parity check without a reboot.  Going to run memtest now.
