How does UPS know when it is safe to power itself off?

Featured Replies

I have an APC UPS and I have two computers hooked up to the battery along with my network switch.  My Unraid server is the master and my other computer is the slave.  I got them connected and working.  My question is in regard to the 'Turn off UPS after shutdown' option.  If I set it to 'yes', How does it know when both my servers have shut down and it is safe to power itself off?  I don't want to have it accidentally power off in the middle of a shut down process.

You basically need to time how long it takes the slave to power down and then set the master (Unraid) to use a longer time (with a small safety margin to allow for variability in the slave).
