Parity Disk Offline After Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi all, as the title states I recently did a LOT of changes to my Unraid server, namely:

  1. Added a new 6TB "Parity 2" disk to my array
  2. Upgraded my main "Parity" drive from 4TB -> 6TB (to match)
  3. Replaced a suspect 4TB WD disk with my old "Parity" drive

My current configuration looks like this:

For the life of me I am unable to figure out the "magic sauce" needed to get everything back to happy here - the issue only started once I placed the old Parity disk back into the array to replace the WD drive - maybe there is something there that Unraid is unhappy with.

I stumbled upon this post "https://forums.unraid.net/topic/44410-solved-parity-device-is-disabled/" which had something similar and am preemptively uploading some additional information exported for the NAS.

Hopefully I have missed something simple, or it is as simple as Unraid not being happy that the old parity drive has been inserted back into the NAS...

I am in no rush right now as I have about 6 hours for the RAID to rebuild before I am comfortable messing about with things:

Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Once the rebuild is done re-enable parity, if it fails to sync post new diags before rebooting.

Thanks for the quick response, and will do. I gathered I would need to wait for the rebuild first :)

You are a legend, it has done the trick, I am in the process of rebuilding the parity now!
