Unable To Start VM When USB Storage Device Unplugged

Featured Replies

Hello all thanks for reading into my issue.

For a bit of background, I had a usb HDD plugged into my server to use for one of my windows VMs. I used the HDD and everything worked fine.

Now that I have unplugged the HDD from the server, the VM will no longer start and I get the error in the attached screenshot. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Plug it back in, edit the VM and uncheck all the USB devices, save the settings. Unplug the drive, then add any USB devices back into the VM config.

Thanks. But what if I no longer have access to that usb device?

Manually edit the VM XML in advanced view and remove the reference to that device.
