Code 43 with GPU passthrough on my Windows 11 VM

Greetings, I have tried 3 GPU and all seem to be getting code 43 in my windows 11 VM, (I have tried windows 10 VM also clean install and still no avail).

VM boots at 800x600 as per usual. ~~However a strange problem occurs. With VNC only, I am able to restart my VM normally. With GPU passed through according to spaceinvader, the VM hangs after restart and 1 cpu is always 100%.~~

My bios is up to date and VT-D is enabled. I have disabled Hyper V, and reinstalled and enabled Hyper V.

The nvidia drivers install, but when it asks me to restart VM, i run into the same problem as above, VM hangs and 1 cpu core shoots to 100%, even if I restart the entire unraid, VM boots normally but at code 43. Here are my VM logs, VM XML, Diagnostics.

Advanced passthrough guide

Dumped my own BIOS as well to make it UEFI

Used 3x old drivers from 359 nvidia

Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated

Edit: I have an Integrated GPU which is being used as unraid, its set as primary in Bios.

and the 2nd GPU is in slot 0,

slot 1 PCIE has a pci card that has all the hdisks attached

Edit: okay so the VM restarts perfectly (I used another vbios), my normal bios is in legacy mode btw.

Still code 43 though!

Hi, I have tried Quadro k600 with a bios passthrough, a GT210, GT730 all have a code 43. any help is appreciated

Sorry to jump in here but I am hoping you may have an idea to resolve a error code 43 I am dealing with.

I have a working Win 10 VM, GPU passed through and audio also working. However a new game has been released but the Easy Anti Cheat throws up a error that the game cant be played on a virtual machine. I followed the steps marked here but this is when my GPU stops working. My monitors stay in standby, so I remote desktop into the VM and noticed in device manager that windows has disabled my GPU because of error code 43. I tried running the game while connected through RD and the changes fixed the EAC error but disabled the GPU.

Sorry to say this but EAC wont allow to play within a VM. There isnt a good work-around for this. Some may work but you can be banned...

Hi @RiDDiX, can you please help me out with my issue I am somewhat new to Unraid and I had my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (I know it's an old card) working totally fine before the upgrade to Unraid VER. 6.11.5, I am still able to passthrough the card but there is no output from the GPU to my monitor and when I remote into it via remote access I get a Code 43 error and it goes away when I reinstall the driver. However, on restart or on shutdown the code 43 comes back. I have tried all kinds of fixes that have been offered on this forum. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Try this one. Maybe your Bios File wont work as excepted.

I was also getting code 43 recently, until I followed this guide: 8. Pass through your GPU (and Other Hardware) and installed the latest nVidia drivers from nVidia website. Default Windows drivers didn’t work for me.

Hi @RiDDiX, the xml change didn't make a different. I uninstalled the hardware and it automatically reinstalled it with no code 43 and then after 5-10 seconds the code 43 error popped up.

Hi @ofx, when I reinstall the driver the code 43 goes away for that session but i still don't have an output to my monitor so the moment I restart the vm or shut it down and start it up again it brings back the code 43.

Try passing through all the devices associated with your card, my RTX2060 has four: a VGA compatible controller, Audio device, USB controller, and a Serial bus controller. Also make sure you set the virtual bus, slot and functions as instructed in the post I linked above.

Check the VM log as well, from what I recall I was getting a bunch of binding errors in the VM log when I had the error 43 in Windows.

I was trying all these settings with my hdmi cable plugged in. I unplugged my HDMI cable and the code 43 went away and it's working fine and I'm getting the output to my monitor as soon as I plug the hdmi cable back in. But after I restart leaving the hdmi cabled plugged code 43 comes back.

I did but wasn't really sure how to use it, I am leaving it as is since it works fine except the fact that I have to remember to disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable each time.
