April 30, 201115 yr Ok, I have no idea what's going on here.... I have 3 user accounts created on my share: root, david, and guest When I try to access my server from my MAC, I have to use root. I cannot sign in with david. Ok, actually I can sign in, but all of the included folders are empty?? On my server I have ||Media ||Movies ||Music Inside the movies folder there are hundreds of directories. When logging in with root I can see and access all of these directories just fine. But when I log in as david, I cannot see any of them. Only the folders above the split leve?! Here's a pic of my share settings: Any thoughts?

May 1, 201115 yr Author Also, when I try to browse to this share off the network, from a windows 7 PC, here's the results: Logging in as root: I have complete access, like you would expect Loggin in as guest or david: I can map the share, and see the sub folders of the share, but cannot open the sub folders... so I can see up to this: \\tower\Media But I cannot open either of these: \\tower\Media\Movies or \\tower\Media\Music I get a message in windows saying that access is denied and I dont have the sufficient privileges to access this..
May 1, 201115 yr Have you manipulated the files using the command line or with the mc utility? Try running the update permissions utility.
May 1, 201115 yr Author Have you manipulated the files using the command line or with the mc utility? Try running the update permissions utility. Not using command line. I used mc once, but since then I've pre cleared the drives. Can you tell me how to update the permissions please Sent from my captivate using tapatalk

Question however, on some windows PC's when I connect, I do not get a login prompt and it automatically defaults to guest...do you know how to avoid that?
