Drive Spin Up

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

It seems like spinning down is such a common question that I can't sift through enough threads/information to get to what I'm looking for. I have a 30 8TB drive array, mostly storage, that's set to spin down after 4 hours. I want to spin up a single drive to run an extended SMART test, but can't for the life of my find a place to spin up a single disk. Help!

On a side note, does the 4 hour spin down delay I set apply if there is a SMART test running?

Thanks!

Justin

Main page, click on circle on the left side of the device, the one that changes colors depending on the drive status.

4H is not enough for an extend test on an 8TB drive.

I know 4H is not enough, but will the test running prevent a spin down?

No, earlier release would disable spin down for SMART test, but not current one, and AFAIK still not fixed on v6.10-rc
