"SimpleFeatures" Plugin - Version 1.0.11

Recommended Posts

Cant wait to try... Need to wait for my son to finish madagascar before I can reboot though :-)

Never mind - I've just posted the changelog on the main post. That'll keep you busy  ;)

Just rebooted (upgraded from 1.05). I can telnet into the server but it appears to hang at Tower acpid: exiting.. Nothing is happening and no shares are visible (also not the flash). I'll reboot again and hope it'll work...

I cannot access the flashdrive anymore, not even from console so I guess I will need to remove it from the inside of the case...

Is something wrong with the plugins or or something on the server side where they are downloaded ?

EDIT: The plugins seem to want /boot/plugins/simpleFeatures..

Should that not be /boot/plugins/config/SimpleFeatures ?

No idea whats going on but shutdown now does not even shut the box down from telnet... Just flipped the switch.. I'll remove the simplefeatures plugins and reboot..

Mmm... while examining the drive.. There appears to be a /boot/plugins/simpleFeatures.. The following stuff is in there :

- active streams

- activity monitor

- cache.dirs

- core.webGUI

- disk.health

- disk.preclear

- email.notify

All have a PNG and a TXZ with the exception of disk.preclear, that only has a TXZ and no PNG.

Hopefully that points in the direction of the error.

I'm having the same issue -- when upgrading, it would not start back up and I could not access any shares. I've uninstalled version 1.0.11 and put 1.0.5 back on and it works...although I am able to offer no help in trouble shooting the actual issue :P

But just so you know, it's not just you :)

Thats good to hear...

I have now removed all references to simplefeatures from my flashdrive using my windows box and have rebooted, everything is back up without simplefeatures. My plugins dont work now because the webserver is not available but I can live with that for a couple of hours.

I have sent speeding ant a pm also, doesn't seem wise if more people are going to install at this time..

A few directions (may need to update the opening post).

  • Delete the folder /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures
  • Delete the files /boot/config/plugins/simpleFeatures*.plg
  • Create the folder /boot/plugins (if not existing)
  • Copy the downloaded & selected *.plg files to the folder created above
  • Reboot

The above steps remove the old instance and settings of SF version 1.0.5.

The new SF version 1.0.11 package files are placed in the location /boot/plugins/simpleFeatures

The new SF version 1.0.11 configuration files are placed in the location /boot/config/simpleFeatures

Additional support packages (non-SF) are placed in /boot/packages

Where is the lighttpd.cfg located ?  I need to put back my old one ..

All SF related configuration files are placed in /boot/config/simpleFeatures

You can copy your old lighttpd.cfg to the above location..

Did you try to start the web server with the "default" lighttpd.cfg file ?

About preclear...

I will write a more extensive guide how to use it, together with some screen images to make things easier to understand.

Basically the preclear option only becomes available (selectable) when you add (new) disks which are not part of the array yet.

There is a new option "Display unassigned disks" (defaults to "yes") which allows the disks outside of the array to be displayed. Such a disk gets the name "+++" and clicking on its name gives access to the preclear utility.

It may sound complicated, but it is rather straight forward. The mechanism used here will ensure that you can never select an active disk to perform a preclear action (and loose data).

If you want to preclear an existing disk you will need to stop the array, unassign the disk and restart the array.

I just reinstalled the webserver (not the core webgui, but the webserver) it installed a whole bunch of stuff again and now my regular unraid webpages are not visible anymore (only empty pages).

Since ther eis no webgui anymore I expected I could not shut down the array clean anymore, but powerdown from the console still worked so I am now rebooting without the simplefeatures PLG's

Sorry guys, Can I still find the previous version somewhere ?  I think I will wait it out for a week or so and then try again, I get nervous when I need to do a lot of reboots and system tinkering.

I found the 1.05 files at the following location:

http://code.google.com/p/unraid-simplefeatures/downloads/detail?name=SimpleFeatures%20Plugins.zip&can=4&q=

I copied them into /boot/config/plugins

After a restart and copying my lightpd.cfg back my system is back in 1.05 state.

- the webserver still refuses to start though.. Webroot and port setup just as they were ..

Do the files /etc/lighttpd.conf and /etc/lighttpd.include.conf exist (these are used by lighttpd and if missing or wrong prevent the application from starting)

- cannot find the preclear link in the gui

See my previous explanation (more to follow)

- cpu and mb temperature sensors show no data

Can you telnet into the server and issue the command "sensors -u" and let show the outcome

ALWAYS install the core-webGUI plugin, all other SF plugins have a dependency on this one...

In your case do the following:

1. Start with the core-webGUI plugin only.

2. Install the web-server plugin manually (i.e. telnet into the box and issue installplg /boot/plugins/simpleFeatures.web.server-1.0.11-noarch-1.plg)

You do not understand... ofcourse I installed the core webgui and that worked fine. Issue is that I could not get the webserver to work so reinstalled THAT (installplg) and that BROKE the main gui..

am getting these warning errors all over the place from different modules on the new version just release....

example

Warning: parse_ini_file(/simpleFeatures.disk.health.ini): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/simpleFeatures.diskHealth/DiskHealth.php on line 14

What do I need to look for?

For those experiencing "complications" when upgrading the following advice:

Start with the core-webGUI plugin only

Put the single file simpleFeatures.core.webGUI-1.0.11-noarch-1.plg in the folder /boot/plugins and reboot.

This will give you the new updated GUI, additional plugins can be added and tested manually later on.

Just a second... I see speeding_ant made some changes to the web-server plugin (*.plg file). Let me check.
