May 2, 201115 yr Just built my server this week and completed first parity check after copying all data over and this is the result i got is this bad or normal or what? Those disk errors something to worry about? and what about the parity errors? May 2, 201115 yr Yes, this is something to worry about. You should not see errors. The disk errors represent read errors on those disks. The parity errors are probably resulting from the read errors. Post SMART reports for the problem drives.
May 2, 201115 yr IM guessing that old age / prefail means they are on the way out eh? No those are just the "category" of error class each attribute line belongs to. Only if the current VALUE is below the THRESHOLD failure for that attribute is the disk considered by SMART as failing. Both disks look perfectly normal. It appears as if the un-readable sectors were not re-allocated, but re-written in their original sectors successfully. Did you pre-clear the disks before assigning them to your array? Or not? Joe L.
May 2, 201115 yr Author no this server was hastily put together and data copied from a rapidly degrading raid 5 array no time for pre-clear on the drives
