March 7, 20224 yr Hi, i'm new to unraid world, can i use both hba card and sata ports from the MB at the same time? Or should i use just one type to connect all HDDs?

I currently have 4 drives (4 HDD array drives) connected to an HBA plus four connected directly to the motherboard SATA ports (2 SSDs, Optical Drive and Parity HDD). There is no problem using both simultaneously. In fact, in most cases, an HBA is not a good option for connecting SSDs since most do not support TRIM. It is recommended to connect SSDs to motherboard SATA ports. Edited March 7, 20224 yr by Hoopster
