Can't Access Shares, all shares have disappeared.

I recently had an issue where one of my drives had a mechanical failure, so I stopped the array swapped in a new drive and it rebuilt, but now I don't have my shares, I have tried restarting my machine several times. I don't know what to do at this point, it's weird in a way because my apps from the community store can kind of see them, but I can't personally access them at all. Any help would be great, here is my diagnosis. I can not see the shares at all it is just a blank page that says "There are no exportable user shares". Any help would be great! I have restarted the machine sever times with no luck.

This is the results:

Inode allocation btrees are too corrupted, skipping phases 6 and 7

No modify flag set, skipping filesystem flush and exiting.

XFS_REPAIR Summary Fri Mar 18 18:36:16 2022

Phase Start End Duration Phase 1: 03/18 18:36:15 03/18 18:36:15 Phase 2: 03/18 18:36:15 03/18 18:36:16 1 second Phase 3: 03/18 18:36:16 03/18 18:36:16 Phase 4: 03/18 18:36:16 03/18 18:36:16 Phase 5: Skipped Phase 6: Skipped Phase 7: Skipped Total run time: 1 second

None of the data on the disks is that critical, so If I loose some of it that's fine it's for backup, but having to do it all over again would be a loss so I would like to get back as much as I can, I tried -nv and this was the results. Shares still haven't appeared.

Sorry I'm new to this... I don't usually try to corrupt my drives this is a new thing for me :)

YEAH I GOT MY SHARES BACK!!! Thank you thank you!

Now my next question? Why did that work, and what happened, just so I can prevent it from happening again (maybe?)

You should check the content of that drive, in particular, look for a 'lost+found' folder. It is possible that some files were not recovered properly.

Not a File System specialist, but from what I understand there is some redundancy in file systems structure and if the damage is not too severe, the proper tool can recover your content. Of course, not all file systems are equal. ;)

what happened

Can't say since you rebooted before taking the diagnostics.

Still not an expert, but I would guess that many things can cause data corruption :

  • bad RAM (always good to run a Memtest if this is something that happen often)
  • you lost power during a write (you should know if it happened)
  • bad drive (you can run an Extended SMART test, disable spin down on the drive beforehand)
  • bad controller maybe ?

Thanks everyone! Yeah I got it all back only the last 4 files I had moved prior to the failure got corrupted and put into the lost+found. It wasn't a big deal though since I copy, check the files on the drives, and then delete after I move them, so I still had the originals as they were in the process of being moved. Thanks again everyone for your help. It appears that the issue was a mixture of the parody drive starting to go bad (lots of errors) at the same time that disk 18 suffered a mechanical failure. So it couldn't rebuild properly from the parody. I have replaced both now, and that seems to have resolved the issues. As I said only 4 small files (50gb) was lost, but I had the originals so no harm. Again thanks everyone for your help, I really appreciate it!
