When enabling VLANs, can I remove the IP address that is directly connected to eth0?

When enabling VLANs, can I remove the IP address that is directly put on eth0 and set it on one of the VLANs instead?

That way I can have all IP addresses in the system assigned to VLANs and not directly on an interface card.

 

Much cleaner that way.
