March 29, 20224 yr Hi All, I'm encountering a problem in upgrading the disks of My HPgen8 microserver. 4 drive bays of 2TB with one being parity all connected to an Adaptec 2405q sas controller in JBOD mode. I've tried to remove the parity disk and replace with a 4TB disk (which I want to do with all of them) but after reboots found the 4TB disk does not present and just shows the old parity drive as missing. I remembered that there are JBOD settings within the config of the 2405q and after booting into its config mode found that I can't add a new disk to existing JBOD, I have to destroy the current JBOD and create a new one with the 4 disks (1 new, 3 old). Presumably I'd have to do this every time I replace a disk to upgrade the size. How borked am I? I assume, hopefully incorrectly, destroying the JBOD to create a new one would cause me to lose data or structure which I'd really like to avoid but it isn't really clear online as to how reliant Unraid is on the JBOD and whether or not I would lose my existing data by creating a new JBOD group. Due to the server only having a cage of 4 bays, I can't really think of a way around whilst maintaining what I currently have. Is a clean build and some kind of backup/restore the only option for me? Thanks in advance to any advice anyone can offer!
