May 7, 201115 yr Hello; I've started some tedious verification of the content stored on my server, following a series of self inflicted "injuries" (crashes, mishandling of hardware), using bits and pieces of information. I have some old sfv files I've created with Quicksfv, and also md5 files more recently created, but do not have such checks for every file on the server. The task I'm up to is rather heuristic, because over time I've also altered file names, and I have not re-created those md5, sfv files... , and in the end it will be just sample testing & validation as much as I will have the energy... I found cfv, or cksfv (http://linux.die.net/man/1/cksfv) for sfv files verification, for avi files I could use ffmpeg recently added by AirVideo (but I have to learn ffmpeg output messages!). For pictures, I found jpeginfo (http://www.kokkonen.net/tjko/src/man/jpeginfo.txt), and for music, mp3check (http://pwet.fr/man/linux/commandes/mp3check). I'm not sure what else is out there to check for each specific format integrity (pdf, flac, etc.), but I think at least the ones I've mentioned earlier would be good additions to the software distribution.. I'd appreciate some directions for installing the above from their sources, or a prepackaged addition to unmenu... Thank you, HG
