Server turns itself off durring the day.

Featured Replies

The past two days my server has turned itself off while I was at work.  Any ideas where I should start?

I'll have to get logs / etc. when I get home this evening.

Diagnostics (even though after a reboot) would be helpful, especially if its a Ryzen system

Run MemTest.  Do you have a UPS? Power issues?

A UPS was added last august.  it kept my backup server running yesterday when my unraid server died. (at least I have a backup)

how do I run a mem test?  I did a while ago add some used ram I bought from good will.

From the bootup menu.  (If you're booting via UEFI though you'll have to switch to boot "legacy" in order for memtest to work)

now that I am home i am seeing signs I did lose power, and my emporia logs confirm it was too long for the batteries, so the ups must have shut off the server.

Problem solved for now.
