April 1, 20224 yr I have been running Unraid for 6+ months now. A few weeks ago, my windows VM has stopped working. I get this error message when trying to start it up: "unsupported configuration: host doesn't support VFIO PCI passthrough". I have not made any changes to the configuration or Unraid. My VM stopped responding, so I rebooted Unraid and now I cannot get the VM restarted. Any ideas? I have verified that VSM is still enabled. Thanks, Keenan Edited April 1, 20224 yr by keenano VSM
April 7, 20224 yr I have the exact same problem, I haven't added anything, neither updated the vm or unraid itself. My usb sound card (Xonar U7 MKII) suddenly didn't get recognised anymore, windows threw an error. So after doing everything I could in the vm (reinstall drivers, troubleshoot etc) I decided to restart Unraid. After restarting, I noticed my VM didn't autostart, while that setting is enabled and it normally should've booted. When I manually start my vm, I get the exact error @Keenano had: "unsupported configuration: host doesn't support VFIO PCI passthrough" All the help would be appreciated :)) (btw, is there any way to find more info as of what could've gone wrong? UD logs provide nothing, and the VM logs only give this warning: shutting down, reason=failed) I've just found out that the problem seems to be my VFIO-PCI plugin, which doesn't show my devices at all anymore Also, if it can be of any help, I have PCIe ACS override enabled, both multifunction and downstream, without it, I can't passthrough even half the devices I need. This has never been an issue before tho so I doubt this has to be changed. Edited April 7, 20224 yr by Gh0stage Edit: added screenshot of VFIO-PCI config plugin
April 8, 20224 yr Check bios settings especially vtx/vtd settings, maybe they resetted for whatever reason. Edited April 8, 20224 yr by ghost82
April 22, 20224 yr Author Sorry, I had some things come up and had to table this issue. So what is very strange: I went into the BIOS, checked IOMMU and it was enabled. When I finally got around to checking Unraid again, the information panel said it was disabled. This was after several restarts and troubleshooting attempts. I went back into the BIOS and sure enough, it was disabled. I re-enabled it, and all was good. I can't explain it... When I noticed the problem, one of the first things I came across was to check IOMMU, so I did. The BIOS showed it was enabled. Clearly there was some glitch/error as it turned itself off and as far as I can tell it did this while still running. I leave the server and VM running 24/7. I went to access the VM one day and found it not up. I accessed Unraid and it showed the VM off and I was not able to start it, but Unraid showed uptime of 43 days. I had accessed the VM in that time. I really have no clue what happened. All is good at the moment, but I will continue to monitor. As @Gh0stage asked. If there is a log file to check or post, I can certainly do so. I couldn't seem to find anything relevant.
