Disabled Disks once a week. Smart test PASS each time.

Recommended Posts

I am facing an issue that I cannot resolve, and I am forced to rebuild the drive(s) every week.

My Primary Data and Parity are 5TB Seagate Drive I shucked. Reason behind this decision was due to the 2.5" form factor. (Users of the HPE EC200a stated 3.5" drives will cause over heating issues in the small chassis)

As a test, I did purchase a 3.5" WD Red Plus a few days ago and I am waiting to see if the drive is disabled as well...

I did read about the Seagate EPC & Low current spin up in this thread: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/103938-69x-lsi-controllers-ironwolf-disks-disabling-summary-fix/ I didn't see this as an option for these Seagate drives.

I have attached my Diagnostics log and have not rebooted the server yet incase users have other suggestions.

Each time the disks are disabled, I remove the drives and I perform the SMART test externally using SeaTools. Passes Each time.

Thank you.
