Norco RPC-4224 backplane needed

Featured Replies

I have a Norco RPC-4224 case running with 15 drives and a port on one of the backplanes died. It does seem this company is out of business. This 24 bay case was priced at $399 and anything even close to this capacity is like $700 to $1000. Anyone know of a source that has backplanes? I believe I have version 2.0 of the backplane.

Also, can anyone recommend a case that can hold 15-18 drives? I am trying to consolidate/condense but it is a slow process and the largest drive is 10TB. I refuse to start all over again and upgrade my parity to 18TB or larger. Just more money.

Why not rip that backplane out and plug in that row directly to each SATA cable?  That’s 4 drives.   The backplane is not mandatory.  At least that’s what is in my Norco case.  I’m thinking of doing the same to mine. These are not SAS expander backplanes.

Yea, unfortunately this just happened to me as well on a Norco RPC-2212. The top backplane just gave out and all four drives are showing missing.

I haven't found a place to buy any replacement parts. I think ripping it out might be my only option unless I want a new case.

I think ripping out is the best.  I primarily use the case for the drive bays.  How I actually connect the drives can be anything from direct connect to backplane.  I have 2 of these cases that I haven’t turned on in like 5 years.  So yea, I’m pretty scared now after reading about all these failures.
