May 8, 201115 yr Hi everybody I have a server with 5 bays someone else put together. 2 1tb drives were in use and working perfectly fine. I bought 3 more (the exact same model), installed them in the bays, plugged the power cables and the red SATA cables, but it seems there's a problem. When I open the server on my browser, I still get only two drives under disk status: Model / Serial No. Temperature Size Free Reads Writes Errors parity ata-WDC_WD10EARS-00MVWB0_WD-WCAZA1406514 28°C 976,762,552 - - - - disk1 ata-WDC_WD10EACS-00D6B1_WD-WCAU44475293 30°C 976,762,552 And when I tried to verify that hard drives are detected using "dmesg|grep SATA|grep link", I got this result: ata1: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300) ata2: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300) ata3: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300) ata4: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) I tried shutting down the system and disconnecting the cables one by one to see which drive was causing problems, but I always got the same result. What should I do next? thanks!!

May 8, 201115 yr Try pressing the Stop button to stop the array and then click to the devices page using the link towards the top of the screen. Use the pull-downs to assign the drives and then go back to the main screen and Start. Peter
May 9, 201115 yr Author Thank you both for the quick reply. Under disk devices, there are only slots for Parity, Disk1 and Disk2. How can I assign all 5? thanks again for your help
May 9, 201115 yr Buy an unRAID license or "key". The free version only allows you to use 3 drives, 1 parity and 2 data drives. Peter

How can I assign all 5? thanks again for your help Sadly, you will have to pony up some money for the disks...but trust me...this software is truly worth it...the support forum rocks as well!
