(SOLVED) Unraid Crashes on 6.9.2 - issue was macvlan setting, IPVLAN setting in 6.10 fixes the problem

Hi all

I'm brand new to Unraid and these forums, so thank you for your patience in advanced.

I recently made the decision to migrate my custom built server from ESXi to Unraid 6.9.2 (stable). Migration was successful and uneventful.

My Unraid server has 1 small SSD local disk which I don't currently use, however, my primary disk access is via an iSCSI link to a LUN on a Synology 1815, so I use the plugins 'iSCSI initiator' and 'unassigned devices'. These seem to work as expected and I can access the LUN and mount the disk array on unraid with no issues.

I run 3 docker containers, 'pihole', 'Plex' & 'openHaB'.

I read that pihole is not entirely stable within a docker container so I shut that down and moved this service back to my Pi as I thought it was causing the crashes.

Now only plex and openhab are the only active docker containers. Nothing too crazy there.

My issue is that Unraid has been crashing almost once a day. The crash locks up the entire Unraid server where a hard reset is required to recover the system.

I left my laptop logged into the CLI of the Unraid server overnight and ran 'tail -f /var/log/syslog' in an attempt to catch the issue of the crashes. Ive attached the syslog crash to this thread. I've also attached my diagnostic dump from Unraid which was downloaded after a crash and a hard reboot.

I don't have much experience with Unraid and I'm now looking for some help to diagnose what is causing the crashes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Dale

I am seeing MACVLAN appear in your crash report.

That can happen if you are using Docker containers with custom IP.

I would suggest to upgrade to 6.10.0 RC4 and change the docker custom network type to IPVLAN in Settings / Docker settings.

Hi ChatNoir

Thanks for the quick response.

Done,... upgraded to 6.10.0 RC4, booted without any issues.

Enabled IPVLAN in the docker settings.

Mounted the array with no issues, docker containers started up with no issues.

Will monitor for a few days and report back.

Cheers

@Faze did you get any problem with your containers that were running on MACVLAN changed to IPVLAN? I got access problems and time-outs with SWAG and PiHole :(
