April 11, 20224 yr I have an SM1500-2UC that I'm trying to connect to a Supermicro G-2U-X10DRU server. I first tried an RJ-45 to a DB-9 serial cable. I tried all the different combinations of cable on apcupsd to no avail. I then tried an RJ-45 to USB cable with apcupsd giving the same "LOst communications' error. Can someone help me get this figured out?
April 11, 20224 yr Have you tried the USB or serial cable that came with it? AFAIK the RJ45 "serial" port uses a special circuit that generic cables won't work.
April 12, 20224 yr Author The RJ-45 connector is labled as "IOIOIOI". To me that looks like a serial connection, but I'll try getting a cable that's USB (APC side) to USB(server-side). There wasn't a cable that came with the UPS. Edited April 12, 20224 yr by Llessur

I was just going by the manual that shows 2 cables that come with it. https://download.schneider-electric.com/files?p_File_Name=SU+QS+990-5460C+MN01+EN.pdf&p_Doc_Ref=SPD_AHUG-A5Y9GY_EN&p_enDocType=Quick+start+guide 2 hours ago, Llessur said: The RJ-45 connector is labled as "IOIOIOI". To me that looks like a serial connection Oh, I'm positive it's a serial connection, but APC is notorious for not using industry standard pinouts to force you to buy their specific cables, or make your own.
