Raid card died, new disk names

Featured Replies

Hey all, so after a electrical problem the raid card in my server (and probably more) died.

As a result I had to build a new server. Now the problem I run into is the LSI raid card renamed the disks that were attached to it so they were labeled as SMCxxxxx

But removed from the raid card they are now the manufacturer and serial. But thats different and unraid isnt realizing they are the same disk just different interface.

Is there any hope for me to recover? Or am I screwed and have to rebuild everything? I had 50+ TB including parity.. So its a big ask.

You can do a new config and Unraid will accept the new devices names (assuming you now which disk is which), but could still have a problem if the previous RAID controller used non standard partitions, i.e., you'll get an "invalid partition layout" error.
