Mac + Unraid = Sad Times

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Quick thanks to the girls and guys on discord!

so I'm having some crazy issues and I have no idea how to fix them, I'm brand new to Mac wanted to try something different

First thing I noticed was I can't search my unraid server, not command + space.. but just a regular folder search. I did get it working very shortly, but it caused the server to unmount and need to be reconnected every time I left finder.
aka I would click on share, it would load an empty folder, then kick me back out to main... then would need to reclick to login in again.

Second Issues, unraid created a folder/file "torrent"..for some reason I can't see the directory on the Mac... I can view it on windows and the webgui

I went into unraid and enabled MacOs Operatbility thing under SMB, and guess what it worked!! I could see the directory....but no files in it...

So I wanted to try something, so I created a new folder within.. and it gave me an error code 43

Some google searching hit me with this

https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/faq/article/sometimes-i-get-an-error-code-43-when-attempting-to-access-files-in-a-shared-folder-while-using-finder-in-macos-via-smb-what-causes-this

No idea how to replicate this in unraid...

Thanks in advance

I refer you to my post here: Search of SMB shares not working (MacOS client)

This this solution improved my experience on macOS working with files on Unraid. I too experienced much frustration shifting away from AFP to SMB as the experience seemed much slower. However, with the right configuration changes (both client-side and server-side) I discovered SMB can be as good, if not superior, to AFP. I hope it helps you out.
