Trouble deleting--read only file system (30)

Featured Replies

I need help to delete files.  When I try to delete the files, I receive the following message:

Cannot delete file "filename"

Read only file system (30)

The file was a probably a hidden or read-only file from a windows backup.  I had copied an enitre windows drive as part of a backup.  I was able to delete most of the files but a few produce the above error and won't delete.

Don't assume I know much about linux.  Most of my deleting has been done so far with Midnight Commander.

It sounds like you need to run rieserfsck. But I can't be sure without seeing your syslog.
