Help Array : Device is disabled, Contents emulated AND udma crc error count

Hi,

 

I just added new disks to my server, via a sata card ASM1166

And i have a lot of error : udma crc error count

Now on one disque i have this message DEVICE IS DISABLED, CONTENTS EMULATED.

So, i have follow this method

 

And now my parity are rebuild :

And during parity I continue to have the same error message more this one

What do you think I should do?

 

For information I have a sas card (Sas9211-8i) that I can use instead of the sata card (I guess the problem comes from the sata card)

Is there a risk of data loss, if I stop the server during the rebuild of the array to replace the sata card by the sas card?

That controller uses SATA port multipliers, those are not recommended, you can cancel the rebuild, replace the controller then re-start rebuilding the disable disk.

Ok, so no worries canceling the rebuild and replacing the sata card with my sas card now, sure?

Yes, assuming it's a HBA, not a RAID controller.

Depends on the flashed firmware, there's IT and RAID mode, though these usually still work even in RAID mode, but IT is still recommended.
