downgrading to 4.7, having device id issue

Featured Replies

i recently tried to downgrade from 5.06b to 4.7. i did a print screen of my setup with serial numbers for when i rebooted. the placement of the drive seems to be different. For example my parity drive (wcaza0188650 (sdg) as of 5.06b) is now wcaza0188650 (sdw). i have assigned all the drives according to their serial number, but i still get the "too many missing or incorrectly assigned disks"

i upgraded back to 5.06b and the array will start, but now i lost all my user shares (the data is still there, but the shares themselves are gone)

any suggestions?

The sdX values do not matter, in fact, they can change from boot to boot. You just need disk1 assigned as disk1 and disk2 as disk2, etc. How did you downgrade?

i replaced the two files (bzimage and bzroot) files, then rebooted the system.

What are the upgrade instructions from 4.7 to 5.0b6a?  You will have to reverse ALL of them.

There were a lot of file format changes in the move to 5.0b6a and 4.7 will not know what to do with those files in a different format.

Can anybody help me downgrade from this god-awful Beta version?

Every time I copy a new movie or tv show to the unRAID share, I have to run that stupid new permissions script which takes over an hour, otherwise the directories and files are not viewable without manually chmod'ing every single file by hand.

I can't believe there is no fix for this issue..  Can someone please tell me how to get back to the old way, where there were no retarded permissions and users everywhere?

Thanks so much all

You don't need to run that script on all your files, only your new ones, which takes less than a second -- for instance:

newperms /mnt/user/Movies/1080p/New_Movie_Directory/

prostuff,

in the instructions i see that i need to erase certain files in the config folder, i do not have those files. it says to replace the bzimage and bzroot files, i did that. there are no other steps that i see. i can't undo the permission activity, and all the drives are in the proper slots.

i don't know what to do. i have decided to reinstall the 5.06b, but now i am missing all but one of my user shares. the data is still there, but the shares are no longer there. i have added all the shares back in (including and excluding the drives i have set), but there is still nothing in the shares.

i have activated the mover script and reactivated the new permission file. i have rebooted and the 5 shares that i had to add back in all have orange balls next to them. the one that is green i can see everything in.

i have attached my syslog also. i see some red errors, but will admit that i am not that familiar with linux or unraid to really know what they mean.
