May 14, 201115 yr **EDIT** Nevermind, It looks like unRAID can only support root-level shares anyways. I guess I am used to Windows domain.... I'll just keep it as it as a single share... **Original Post** As long as I am moving my media collection from a 2008 box with a raid array to unRAID, I should probably sort my files out a little. I have the files sorted on the raid array into sub folders, but since it is one large drive essentially, they are all together under one share. How does unraid work with nested shares? when I say that, I mean a share inside of a share? I'm not sure how to explain this easily... For example, I have a 12 drive unraid. I want to put My media on just drives 1-10. BluRays on drive 1-7, DVDs on 8&9 and Audio on 10. Can I make a master folder "Media" then under that folder Make "BluRay", "DVD" and "Audio". Share all four folders? set media to use all drives or 1-10, BluRays to disk1 - disk7 , DVD to use disk7 & 8 and audio to use disk10. Set my htpc to map to "media" for playback, and set my ripping PC use the "sub-level" or "nested" share (BluRay or DVD for example) to write the files to the unraid server? would the end result using a cache drive create the structure I want, or would it all just use the top level share? I know i can do this by using a "flat" share structure or manually moving files about.
May 14, 201115 yr You can set up custom shares in the samba-extra.conf file. Do a search on the forums on how to do it.
