Unable to log into web interface - Help!

Featured Replies

Hi all.

This is my first post.  I am a new Unraid user of about 10 days.  I enjoy tech and was formerly fairly technical, but have lost a lot (Cisco IOS engineer in the day).  But my Linux experience is pretty limited.

Anyway, here is my problem.  My Unraid server has been working brilliantly.  I devided to go ahead and buy.  I just purchased my license and was tying my Unraid server to my user account on Unraid.net.  I Installed the Unraid.net plugin and got it registered and it shows up in my account.  Then decided I would like to try remote access.  This is where the problem started, and this is what I did that somehow broke things:

1. It would not let me provision an Unraid.net SSL Cert to enable remote access

2. I noticed the warning at the bottom saying I couldn't enable remote access until provisioned the cert and turning on Auto SSL/TLS

3. I turned on auto SSL/TLS and applied - then it kicked me out.

I tried to log back in and I could no longer log in with my root account.  I also tried my Unraid.net account, then the web interface went away all together and I could not get back in.

So I did a port scan on the box and noticed 443 was no longer open, just 80.   So I went to just http in the browser and it came up.  But it still will not let me log in with my root account, and I cannot log in with an unraid.net account either.  I am positive the PW and usernames are correct, and here is how I know

SSH is enabled, so I checked and I am able to log in with the root username and password via SSH.  So I know the password is right.   I do not think it will go me any good to do a PW recovery as I know the PW is correct.  I did a reboot via SSH and still cannot log in after it came up.

So can anyone help me?  Like I said, I am not great at linux but can check things out via SSH with some direction.  Bright side is, all my dockers and VMs appear to have turned back on, and the shares are all reachable, so that's working.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be given!

Update, I was able to get back in.  I pulled the flash and deleted the smbpassword and shadow files and restarted.  Then went to:

http://<ip address>/Dashboard and was able to get in.  Then I reset the root password.

I also set SSL/TLS from Auto back to yes and now SSL is up again.  The weird thing is though, I don't seem to be able to get to it by local name any more (https://<name>.local/.  Only by IP.
