Weird connection issue: lappy to tower

The lappy goes to school with me once in a while. It did last week so I could buy Weezer tickets (got 'em!), which means I had to adjust my DNS to auto from the static servers I use at home.

 

I get back home and noticed the tower wouldn't always load using the lappy. Oh well. Fast forward to tonight, I read about The Pirate Bay's weird routing issue. I was inspired to check my DNS, and changed it back to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2. Lo and behold tower loads up as normal.

 

This seems odd to me. Any comments?
