May 14, 20224 yr Hello, As I stated in the title I am trying to make my first unraid server however when i go to create my array with parity and disks nothing comes up. I did a test run the other day with the same SSD via a usb connector but now that i am connecting via the Dell t420 hot swap bay nothing wants to pop up. Checking to make sure the system actually sees the drives was my first step and they are seen via IDRAC on the dell dashboard. Any ideas? (For my unraid pic i couldn't select the drop down and screenshot but theres nothing in the dropdown just says unassigned) The drives i am using are : https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-240GB-Solid-SA400S37-240G/dp/B01N0TQPQB/ref=asc_df_B01N5IB20Q/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309807187084&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9134684906897967432&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9030229&hvtargid=pla-331198281812&th=1 Ive added images below. Thanks for helping with my noob question.
May 14, 20224 yr Community Expert You're using a RAID controller, those are not recommended, but if you want to use it you need to enable drive pass through/JBOD mode or even create a RAID0 device for each device, depending on the controller options.

May 14, 20224 yr Author Gotcha I shoulda researched more. I'll have to try out unRaid on a future build then. Thank you @trurl and @JorgeB . Have a good day.
May 15, 20224 yr Community Expert You can run Unraid with RAID controllers, especially if you want to see how it works and try its features, but would definitely recommend using true HBAs for a final config.
