Everything passed nothing failed smart. Only 1 error while transferring 1 tb of data

Please post SMART report. I don't doubt it did not fail but certain values can indicate the problem.

These are the lines prostuff is talking about.

Here's the Wikipedia entry - gives you some narrative as to what these items mean.

My strong advice is not to take a chance with a faulty hard disk - I understand that you've got time invested in this drive already... but that's a "sunk cost".  If this drive is faulty and subsequently fails, you're going to be investing a whole lot more time with risk of data loss.

How bad is that, I got nothing from that wiki entry. Does this mean imminent failure or is it a false-positive? Thanks

The wiki entry is fairly straight forward to read/follow.

The two rows I point out are the ones most of us look at, they are an indication that there are sectors on the drive that could not be read/written.

It is not a false positive as it shows the drive was having issues.  If they numbers stop increasing then you are probably fine, if they keep going up then the drive is/has gone bad.

Meh why risk it, RMA'd with WD. OMFG So easy, type in serial number, if its under warranty you can have them ship you a new drive before you send out your old one. You have to put a CC on hold till they get the old one which is reasonable. So all in all I am out $4.25 shipping for a brand new drive. Awesome. Thanks for the help. Sucks I have to re xfer 1TB of data but whatevs
