Upgraded to 6.10 Won't Boot

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Selected OS Update in the gui, download OK and got a message saying a reboot is required. Rebooted and... nothing. No command line or Web gui.

Does the first boot take a while?.

Can I roll back to the previous version by unzipping unraid by plugging it into my laptop?

Do you have a monitor/ipmi? Where did the boot stopped?

It appears that there are lots os USB related issues, make sure the flash is in a USB 2.0 port and/or try a different one (in a different controller).

Still the same. Can I put the unraid usb in my laptop, delete the 6.10 unraid and unzip the previous version?. Then get a log file and work out what the usb problem is?

I've done stuffed up big time. I unzipped the old version of unraid. It booted, but it's like a fresh install, none of the drives are allocated?

Can this be fixed?

I'm panicking, I start uni in 3 days. I need my VM running ;_

Please help!

I copied the 6.10 files to my laptop. I've just copied them back to the Unraid flash.

Which bz files do I overwrite? And what do I overwrite them with?

  • Community Expert

If you want to go back to v6.9.2 unzip that to the flash drive then restore only the config folder from the backup.

So, unzip the old unraid to the flash, then copy the current config file to the flash?

  • Community Expert

Yes, if the config is the backup, and it's the complete config folder, not file.

Oh my gawd I love you. It's working!

On 6.8.3, I can always update. To stressed to do anymore tonight. I'm going to bed. I'll look at debugging tomorrow. Atleast I can look at log files etc now to see what the problems are?

Just noticed the cache drives aren't mounted. Do I simply press 'mount' and will I get my VM's and vdisks back?. Or do I need to copy another file from my unraid back up to the unraid flash?

  • Community Expert

That's because you downgraded to v6.8, doesn't v6.9 work? If you want to remain on v6.8 just re-assigned them as they were.

  • Author

Ok, should I just upgrade to 6.9?

  • Community Expert

If it works yes, at least it's much newer, and cache devices should be automatically assigned, download the 6.9.2 zip and extract only the bz* files overwriting existing ones.

You're a champ. Cache mounted and VM running. I'll be able to sleep tonight. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! high fives ;D. If you're ever in Australia look me up, I'll meet up and buy you dinner and a few beers
