[SOLVED] If I lost 2 drives can I still get my data off of the other drives?

Featured Replies

I'm still working on a possible fix to my UNRAID issues.  It appears I lost one drive (#9) then while investigating the issue, my drive 11 which is 750GB showed up as over 2TB and I get a message that the parity drive is not the biggest.  Given all that I think there were issues with my motherboard so I'm waiting on a replacement to see if that settles some of these issues.

In the meantime I was curious if I would be able to read the data off of my remaining drives if I pulled them from my UNRAID box and put them in another PC.  If that's the case is there any special software I'd need to get my files off?  Thanks.

This has all been covered before, you should really search around...

but...

YES.  Plug the drives into another computer that will read ReiserFS (linux) or with windows use a program to read the drive.  I use YAReG.

Thank you hypyke.  Sorry for not searching.  I did see someone mention about being able to read the UNRAID drives in windows which prompted my post.  I have 500+ rips I'd rather not lose and it sounds like I won't lose most of them if the motherboard swap doesn't work.  Either way I'll probably rebuild my UNRAID server using all 1-2TB drives.  Again, thanks for the YAReG mention.
