Preclear

Featured Replies

I just added two disks to the array and it is in the process of clearing the first of the two.

I forgot about preclear as it was not on my flash.  It is now there and i wish to use it to clear the two new disks

There does not seem to be a command to stop the array while it is clearing the disk.  Is there any way to stop the clearing process without hurting the array?  Can I just force a powerdown, or power off the machine? Or do I just have to wait, and wait, and wait while I cannot use the array?

I'm sorry I was not clear.  I am not using preclear but rather letting unraid do th clear. That is what I want to stop!. If all it is doing is clearing the disk and not touching anything else can I just powerdown, or if need be shut off the machine?

Since your array is STOPPED there is no harm is powering off your server with the power button. But try the "reboot" commmand first.

Powerdown worked fine.

The BIGGEST problem with unraid is that I rearely have to pay attention to it!!  I am not a Unix person so I forget the commands I need.  I had to sit and read for a minute to determine that the preclear script is in boot and how to change the directory to boot....

All seems well now. The first of the two new disks is preclearing and the array is started with the 4 disks it had before. So now it is just a matter of waiting, but I cause the array.
