May 18, 201115 yr Hello all! I have been reading and reading and made the decision that unRaid is for me! I started off finding XBMC and based on recommendations there realize I should start this experience with a home media server. I want this machine to also run SABanzb and sickbeard, based on these forums that looks possible. I would like to start off simple, as I am a noob regarding lots of this. I am great at following directions (just don't ask my wife) and the support here looks amazing! Is this the best, and most current, way to install SAB & SB ? http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Install_Python_based_servers I would like to start this machine without a cache drive, and rather use a non-array drive for these addons. Is this recommended? I can't seem to find a good walk through for adding a non-array drive to my machine... can anyone help me with direction for that? Here is the components I purchased for this machine, largely based on recommendation I read in these forums. May 18, 201115 yr Yea Sab and Sickbeard work pretty effortlessly...i will just say from that tutorial to not use port 8080 for Sabnzbd which is its default. Because unMenu also uses 8080 and you will likely want to use that sometimes.
May 21, 201115 yr I just built a server with the Intel i3 2100t which is supposedly 35watts and just got it up and running today. I don't have any reliability data but the lower power processor may be something to consider...I was going to go with the i3 550 but decided to try the 2100t based on the specs. Again, because I haven't been running it very long I'm not necessarily recommending it...just throwing it out there as another option
May 21, 201115 yr I see no reason not to. There were some issues with some early sandybridge chipsets and unRAID. I am running one as are a few others. The power savings is not as good as my Atom D510 based server while under load. but the i3 has a bit more horsepower. At idol, they are pretty close.
