For that price I'd rather build a Norco 4U case with the components I want vs. a pre-made one with questionable compatibility.

Agreed, you are paying a premium for hardware RAID components that will be wasted on unRAID.  Also, this is some older hardware (DDR1 RAM, for example).  I wouldn't spend that much on older hardware even if I knew it was compatible.

I'd also point out that that server is probably 10 years old and loud.

I'd point out that the SATA cards are old PCI cards, so it would be a slow system as well.
