Samba guest access in 5.0-beta6a [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

I just upgraded to 5.0x series (from 4.7) and noticed that the Samba "guest" access doesn't seem to be working anymore.

I never created any users on my system as I just relied on having the Samba guest access enabled. To be clear, I'm not talking about a guest user, but rather just the built in Samba guest functionality.

It seems like this was removed, but I was just wanting to confirm this. Is there a way to bring it back?

I think I sorted this out.

I created a /boot/config/smb-extra.conf file and added the following to it:

guest ok = yes
guest account = nobody

And restarted Samba. Guest access seems to be restored on all my mounts with read & write access.
