New Config does not really create new config

Featured Replies

Hi all,
i'm running licensed unraid 6.9.2 on an old 8bay qnap via a pendrive replacing the DOM.
I cant update to latest version until a reopen the NAS, because it has only 2GB of ram, and update fails for IO errors.

But my problem is this: All 8 disks are in one array, no parity, but i need to replace 2 of those disks with newer ones. Those 2 are already empty, so i went the way of stopping the array and doing a new config via tools->new config-> none (yes i want). I tried several times, but the new config isn't created and under MAIN i still have all disks alerady assigned. If i remove one, the START button turns off and the disk show "missing"

logs shows nothing when i do the New Config thing.

So i'm stuck on that. I can't remove drives.

Am i doing something wrong?

Don't remember any similar reports, can you try with a different browser?

Are you saving and applying the new config before you leave the page?

What i tried is:
- stopping the array
- going to tools -> new config.
- selecting "none", then checking "Yes" and DONE
that brings me back to Tools menu
- go to MAIN
- all disks are still in the array.

tried that in chrome, and in edge (first time accessing my unraid)

what i saw in various guide that i did NOT do:
- shutting down the NAS
- removing phisically the drives
- rebooting
- tools->New config

the NAS is on another floor and i had no time to try that.
If anyone thinks that IS the problem, i'll try it next monday.

You left out the key step - Apply.   The Done button is equivalent to a Cancel.

That DONE was so misleading...
but you were right.
