May 21, 201115 yr I am posting again with some of the same issues as before and some new issues. Here is what I am currently using for this server: unRaid ver 4.5.6 Norco 4224 case PSU Corsair TX650W ASUS M4A785TO-V EVO AMD processor 4gb memory 2 - Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 for drives 1 - 16 remaining drives and parity drive via reverse breakout to motherboard (drives 17 and up with parity drive) I started having issues when I got to the 5th row of drives and trying to preclear a drive. Had all kinds of error messages in my log and couldn't seem to solve it. Well since then I have changed the case, motherboard, processor, and reverse breakout cable trying to solve the issue. A week ago I posted a log and all seemed well with the changes in the equipment. Tried to preclear a drive yesterday and it failed, it tried to run and went through all the steps but the disk failed to pass. OK, maybe the drive, so I popped another in and preclear would not run due to invalid partition or something. Did another and preclear just hung there and would not run at all. So I reboot my system and go back to it this morning. I see over 3 million writes on disk 7. I bring up unmenu and now see I have 2 more partitions on disk 7 that weren't there before. So now I have 2 unknown partitions for no reason and I still can't preclear a drive on the 5th row of drives. That row contains my parity drive and drive 17 which both seem to be fine. I can write to drive 17 but it is slower than what it should be but not too bad. I get speeds from 25 to 30 MB/s where I would expect slightly over 30 for the other drives in that system. My syslog is 32mb in size since last night so it isn't posted. Any help is appreciated.
May 21, 201115 yr It appears disk7 is not in the array anymore. Maybe it got dropped-out due to write errors. A syslog might give more info. sdu refers to the drive and sdu1 is the partition on the drive. It appears dis5 is also having issues of some sort, with 34 write errors on it too. Peter
May 21, 201115 yr Author Here is a current syslog after reboot. Now no more extra partitions on disk 7 either. I have no idea as to what is going on. syslog-2011-05-21_B.txt
