Home Assistant Backup Import help

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a backup of my home assisntant from another server and want to move it to my unraid server.

I have the .tar file but I cannot see anyware to upload it, I have tried to put the .tar inside the backups folder of HA but I am getting access denied, when looking how to restore from backup the main HM site state you can do it on setup of HA but I don't see that button when setting up HA on unraid.

Anyone had this problem or know how to get it so I can restore from backup?

This is how HA says you can do it that it doesn't show for me

You need install HA first, i.e. download QCOW2 image from official then restore the backup.

ah ok, so uninstall the one I have already from the app store and install this one as a docker? Sorry i'm quite new to this.

Pls ignore the QCOW2 image route, because this running HA in VM and you are talking about docker.

After you install Apps ( docker ) what have you see in welcome page ??

As I am not running docker HA so I am not sure does "backup" interchangeable, I first running HA in Pi then change to Unraid VM and import the backup without problem. You can see the "backup" architecture completely different as yours.

I see this on the welcome page right after install of the docker:

it just tries to take you though making an account and setting your timezone, no botton to upload a backup .tar file or anything like that sadly.

BTW, it look like normal as below post, seems you need Supervisor for backup/restore function ( but your backup content still look different, current Unraid APPS seems not exist anymore )

Pls also ref. below info.

I haven't much idea about HA docker,  large different vs HA VM.

I can immediate restore backup at welcome page.

You should install HA in VM instead with docker.
