Basic unRaid complete, take it to the next level

Featured Replies

Hey all, my dual core 1.6GHz ATOM unRAID array is working perfectly with 6 HDDs in place. It has been rock solid for several months now.

I would like to take it to the next level and achieve:

1) Torrent downloading/uploading

2) File serving/transfer/streaming across an FTP or some other (better) way

I'm a total Linux newbie and don't know where to begin to accomplish these.

Running unRAID PLUS with 5 data HDDs+Parity. Have room to expand to 14 with proper hardware and unRAID PRO. Have a SuperMicro motherboard with IPMI support.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!

For Torrent downloading search for Transmission here in the Forum.

For the Fileserving thing, do you want to do it across the Inet or just in your LAN? What are your clients? PC, XboX, iPhone? You need to be a little bit more specific in this point.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this post.

Across the internet. My clients would primarily be PCs but if there is iPhone support I would be interested to know about that as well.

Thanks

Oops sorry, I'm running version 4.7

With iPhone i cant help you, therefor i can just think of Airvideo but i dont think it work's via Inet.

For your PC's checkt if vsftpd is available in your installation, else youc an look into unMenu there should be a package for proftpd.

Air video works rather well over Internet.

OP: you say you have IPMI... Do you know how to use it or you just throwing out jargon? I ask cause I could use some pointers...

I installed unRaid via IPMI and do 100% of server maintenance with it as well. The only cables running out of my unRaid box are ethernet and power.
