When shopping for array hard disks is disk cache relevant if I have a cache drive?

    Remember that UNRAID uses its cache drives currently (hopefully) only to speed up writing.

    Once the data has been moved to the "real" disk, you depend on the drive's speed and cache (and memory cache, but that is not really predictable).

     

    It depends on the drives firmware if the the drive's cache is used for reading too, so there is no general answer to your question possible.

     

    But without any cache, your chances are 0% to get a benefit :-)))
